Therapy

Pine Grove Chiropractic offers natural therapies for pain relief and the restoration of movement and flexibility, including electrical muscle stimulation and disc herniation decompression.

Electrical Muscle Stimulation

This natural therapy applies a mild electrical current to an area of muscle spasm, reducing the spasm, swelling, and inflammation before chiropractic manipulation. An interferential current is applied directly to a problem area through dispersed electrodes for a designated time and supported by moist heat or prior therapy. This therapy is great for painful, tender areas that spasm or could have an edema. This relaxes soft tissue and makes manipulation more tolerable and effective.

Laser or Ultrasound Therapy

Sound waves or laser beams are applied to the skin to accomplish relaxation and disperse edematous tissue. This natural therapy is among the newest in wound-healing technology. These two procedures are more applicable for acute conditions, and will be chosen following an assessment of what therapy or therapies will work best, such as stopping calcification of bruises. These treatments can help reduce spasms and swelling, making chiropractic care more effective.

Disc Herniation Decompression

Flexion distraction of the lumbar spine is used to address disc herniation in the area. The procedure is done on a specific flexion distraction table, directing the movements of the table as pressure is applied, helping with the distraction of the herniated area. This therapy helps with nerve issues and leg pains.

Traction

Traction is used to treat the cervical spine, and is done with an intersegmental traction unit. This is a unique procedure, performed in a neutral position. Used to address disc compression in the cervical spine, it greatly reduces pain and allows more effective chiropractic manipulation. The technique is especially useful for those with neck and arm issues.
